The Benefits of Eating Alkaline Vegetables

Many people want to optimize their health but have trouble with where to begin. If you remember back to your science class, you may have studied the difference between alkaline and acidic body. These two principles are key factors in the health of our bodies.

We now know that an acidic body leads to more disease and overall poor health and an alkaline body helps to optimize health. Why is it important that we have a more alkaline body than an acidic body?

Two important concepts regarding this question and how healthy we ultimately are.

An Acidic Body

A pH level measures how acid or alkaline something is. A pH of 0 is totally acidic, while a pH of 14 is completely alkaline. A pH of 7 is neutral and that is around where we want to be on the scale.

An acidic body can play a powerful role in how vulnerable we are to health conditions such as bacteria and viruses which thrive in an acidic environment.

Additionally, some studies have shown that cancer cells thrive in highly acidic environments – in other words, environments with a low pH.

Foods that tend to create more acidity in the body to limit or eliminate include:

  • Grains
  • Sugar
  • Certain dairy products
  • Processed foods
  • Meats and processed meats, such as corned beef and turkey
  • Sodas and other sweetened beverages
  • High-protein foods
  • Supplements

An Alkaline Body

Following an alkaline diet and/or alkaline water may protect you from disease and help you lose weight as you are choosing foods that are nutrient-rich – including vegetables that also help optimize gut health which is the epi-center of our overall health, immunity, weight, mental well-being and brain health. An alkaline diet can also help reduce inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response to injury and infection, but too much inflammation – also known as chronic or silent inflammation – can cause DNA damage and lead to most illness, disease, faster aging, and weight gain. So eating foods that reduce inflammation can help reduce your risk.

Examples of Vegetables that Can Alkalize Your Body

  • Green Leafy Vegetables
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Avocado
  • Celery
  • Asparagus
  • Sweet Potato
  • Cucumbers
  • Bell Pepper
  • Seaweed
  • Algae (Spirulina and Chlorella)

Now that we know which veggies are alkaline, make sure your veggies are cleaned the right way – crucial to ensuring that all toxic herbicide and pesticide residue is removed. Take a look at this remarkable video showing the power of using the Tyent Water Turbo Boost and how the water literally changes color as the Turbo Water removes the pesticide residue from those tomatoes! You’ll never want to eat foods just rinsed in the water again.
